Ever wonder what a locksmith sees when they walk up to your house or your shop? Most people check that the door is locked and stop there. A locksmith notices the short screws in the strike plate, the deadbolt that never fully seats, the shed hasp held on with exposed screws, and the ex-employee who still has a key. Our Home or Business Security Inspection lets you see your property through the eyes of a locksmith, so you know what is solid and what is easy to get past.

It can happen in a small town
Break-ins and thefts are not only a big-city problem. In the County 10 law enforcement log for the Riverton Police Department (Oct. 9, 2026), a resident on E Fremont Ave. reported that a lock was unscrewed from a shed and a welder valued at $2,000 was missing. The owner had been out of town for a few weeks and came home to find the theft.
Businesses face their own version of the problem. The Riverton Police Department log for Oct. 1, 2026 lists a report of someone getting into an unlocked vehicle and taking business keys and post office keys. When business keys walk off, every door they open is a question mark until the locks are rekeyed.
Neither of those is a dramatic story. That is the point: a lot of losses start with an ordinary weak spot that nobody looked at. An inspection is how you find yours first.
What we check
At your home
- Front, back, side, and garage entry doors
- Door frames and jambs for splits, rot, or old repairs

- Sliding doors, garage door keypad, and window locks
- Smart locks: batteries, codes, and backup key
- Padlocks and hasps on sheds, shops, gates, and outbuildings
At your business
- Storefront doors and back or service doors
- Commercial locks, levers, and deadbolts
- Door closers and exit devices that should close and latch
- Strike plates and latch guards
- Your master key setup and who still has keys
- Key control and restricted keyways

- Padlocks on gates, fences, storage, and job boxes
What you get
We walk the property with you, door by door, and tell you plainly what is in good shape, what needs attention, and why. You get an honest look with no pressure. If something should be fixed, we explain the options and quote them before any work starts. Some homes only need a rekey after a move-in. Some shops need a key control plan because nobody remembers how many keys were handed out over the years. Either way, you will know where you stand.
Common fixes we find
Reinforced strike plates
Thin factory strikes with short screws are one of the most common weak points we see. See security strike plates.
Deadbolts and smart locks
Worn deadbolts can be replaced or upgraded. The eufy C210 and C220 take a Schlage key, and WE CAN rekey eufy locks to match your keys. See smart lock installation.
Padlocks and SFIC cores
Heavy-duty padlocks for sheds and gates, and interchangeable-core padlocks for businesses. See padlocks and SFIC padlocks.
- Rekeying. If you do not know who has keys, a rekey makes the old keys stop working. We can often key your doors alike so one key runs the house.
- Shed, gate, and outbuilding padlocks. Shrouded and discus padlocks, keyed-alike sets, and better hasps. Padlocks come with 30-day returns with local pickup in Riverton (see our return policy). More on shed security and trailer security.
- Commercial key control. Master key systems, rekeys after staff changes, and SFIC padlocks set up with BEST, Medeco, Schlage high-security, or restricted keyways. We also have construction cores for buildings still under construction or remodel. See commercial locksmith.
Who it is for
- New homeowners and renters who do not know how many keys are out there
- Landlords and property managers between tenants
- Anyone who travels or is away for weeks at a time, with a shop or shed full of tools
